RJ Maupin
RJ is both a stained glass artist and a current graduate student in art history with a focus on contemporary glass. She is particularly interested in how stained glass operates in opposition to traditional glassblowing, as each panel is formed out of intentional breakage. A puzzle of cut pieces form a cohesive whole, reminding us that what is broken is not destroyed. While working at HGA, she was able to use glass blown material scraps, such as cane “flowers”, to find intersections between the crafts.
